Vacation Rental in the Heart of Volcano Village–sleeps 5
Ola’a House is a 2 bedroom cottage built in 1929. Inside you will find vintage and modern Hawaiian style furnishings, fabrics, ceramics, and many pieces of original local art. The home features a large living room with gas fireplace, a sun room and colorful kitchen. A smart TV, free wi-fi, and spacious gardens complete this elegant and comfortable home. Ola’a (which means “lively” in Hawaiian) House is right across a small road from Tutu’s Place, another historic Volcano Village home. Both homes can be booked together for gatherings of up to ten people. We love to spend our days outdoors hiking the many local trails and bird watching.
The Ola’a House has two bedrooms that share a full bath. One bedroom has a king bed, a replica of a royal bed found in the Hulihe’e Palce in Kona, and the other has twin beds that can convert to king. The room with twin beds also has a sink area in the room, which families find very handy! There is a twin sized sofa bed in the living room.
“Most of us who travel will never experience “old Hawaii” but the Ola’a House comes close. It’s the real deal… it’s like stepping back in time. Very clean rooms, a large bathroom, full kitchen facilities and a gathering room with large gas fireplace that’s great for getting everyone together to share stories about the day’s adventures. The primary bedroom is beautifully decorated and with Hawaiian furniture, paintings, and quilts. If you love birds, get up early, walk the Ola’a grounds, and treat yourself to some of the high altitude Hawaiian song birds that call this place home.”
